I even tried the link before posting it.
GIGABYTE G1 Gaming GA-Z170X-Gaming 3 (rev. 1.0) LGA 1151 Intel Z170 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard $119.

There are PCIe x4 to M.2 adapters that hold two M.2 950 how good they work is another question and stick it in the 2nd x16 pci-e slot if need be just a idea.

Now I'm thinking of getting the GIGABYTE G1 Gaming GA-Z170X-Gaming 3 board. See here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...igabyte_Z170X-Gaming_3-_-13-128-837-_-Product

Though could someone take a look at the specs above I originaly posted and let me know if I'll be able to use my 4 drives without degradation in performance of either of them after taking into account the CPU and DVD drive and possible a sound card I'd add in. And if so, would other Z170 boards have the same issue?

I'm really tired today and must be dense.

That's the same one you posted earlier where I quoted the negative review for you.

Several people have given you ideas on the motherboards that will work for you. I even told you about the MSI board on sale at Newegg.

You just need to read the reviews on the suggested boards and decide.

That is the same board I could not link to earlier.
The worst that could happen is you may need a PCIe x4 to M.2 adapter in slot 2x16 to run full speed.

From what I can tell with that motherboard, he would need that adapter.

The MSI z170a G45 board I referenced earlier usually sells around $170, and he can get it for $119 after $10 rebate (Newegg limited time sale), and it states it supports:

1x M.2_PCIe + 6x SATAs or 1x M.2_SATA + 1x M.2_PCIe + 4x SATAs.

That should have him covered for his 950 Pro plus his SATA drives.

Yes you are correct. First I'll read up on the PCIe, etc, technology and how it works. Only then will I know what I'm looking at when I read specs on newegg and what not. I really appreciate moving this along. I need to not rely on all/anyone to spoon feed this to me 🙂

Seems like Usand is correct. I d/l the manual for the MSI board and I found this chart that shows all the possible combinations. It shows with one M.2 drive, then all the SATA port would be available. Just not sure what adding the video card would do.
A

I think I'll just buy the damn board and get this over. Then down the road I can worry about adding a second M.2 drive.

If you can spend a litte more I can vouch for the Gigabyte gaming 7 as a nice solid board. At around $200.

I own the Asus Maximus Viii Hero Alpha which cost 100 bucks more but not as good. Well honestly I have both boards .

Asus gets once last chance from me with their Maximus Viii formula after that it's just another so-called once name brand like Sony.

Grab the gaming 7 for the extra cash you won't be disappointed. Newegg has bundles that helps to get the price down
