I'm sure BigDan will pick a fitting nick, and that she's pretty hot too! Salma Hayek was born in 1966 and she's smokin'

So I'm tired of getting crap about my nick, so I tried to change it to my first name, Serena. Mods tell me that it's taken, so does anyone have any ideas?

you want serena? are you a guy or a girl?

Have you ever heard of a guy named Serena?

Negative

Yeah I vote to boot the non-poster

I hate when Alkemyst is taken...I believe I was the first to create it (before 1992) for a name....anyways you sign up for a site and they tell you name already in use....so you search the boards and get 0 results. :( :( :(

I have actually had n00bs email me to say I *stole* their name and have been able to go through old email seeing they emailed me previously about the meaning of my name years before.

Later, while drinking a fair bit of alcohol, I was joking with my husband about what else could be called a Big Dan. A large steely dan (look up the real meaning of the band's name if you don't already know.) I thought it would make a fine name for a nick on a tech board full of mostly boys, so I used it when I signed up here. Didn't intend to give out any personal information at the time (and was not sober either). Worked fine to remain gender-undefined until I actually made reference to my gender.

what a lame story.

No, but i never heard of a girl nicking herself with 'Big' and a boys name together before either.

Anyways, Serena is a beautiful name... maybe Serena and Initial of your last name... like SerenaD, or Serena and number of your year of date.

Have you figured out it's meaning yet?

I don't think the story was meant to be your Wednesday night entertainment, but rather an explaination to why she has that name.

Why do you say whiskers?

GO WITH MINE: "BigDanNOTaMan" <---- #1 nickname

What if the moon were made of spare ribs?

I'd eat it and wash it down with a cool budweiser.

May I ask what the new nick Bryophyte means?

Also, I looked up the meaning of Steely Dan's name, and was wondering why you would name yourself after a device that gave female's pleasure if you yourself are female.

Bryophyte refers to a group of plants comprising the mosses, liverworts, and hornworts. Here are some examples: http://waynesword.palomar.edu/bryoph1.htm I am a botanist from Oregon, with an interest in nonvascular plants. Mosses are everywhere here.

I was just going to add why'd you choose going from a pleasure device to a liverwort.

hehe

I had some Botany education in my Biology/Zoology/Chemistry degree...they were optional classes I am glad I took. My instructioner for them was great, even giving me a ton of his old books (I have a huge library (for a poor guy, I can't compete with the 10000+ volumes some millionaires have) at home....and science books make up alot of it).
