Hi all! With winter break coming, 3 week long, I want to spend some time playing quality RPG. What are excellent RPG games? I am really tired of playing CS:S and pwning everyone's face, it gets boring after time.

I played Diablo II: LoD for over a year, but I am not going back to it because the Battle.Net is infested with hackers, scammers, and bugged items. And the graphics is not so good either. So I want you guys to suggest me a good RPG.

This is my system:
AGP 6800GT 256mb/256bit
AMD 3200+ (32bit) socket A
2x512mb Corsair Value DDR 400 ram
NF2 mobo
and a 22" LCD with native res of 1680x1050 that will come in few days. So far I have 19" CRT that I am going to get rid of.

Thanks!

Have you tried Morrowind? That should run fairly well on your system and that game is totally awesome IMO. Oblivion is another option but likes very fast computers.

I haven't tried Morrowind, and maybe Oblivion will run fine if I turn the eye candy down.
Are these two games single-player?

Yes, although I believe there are multiplayer mods for them.

BTW, do you prefer single player RPGs or multiplayer?

If you like single player games, I'd recommend:

Morrowind
Oblivion
Knights of the Republic (both)
Neverwinter Nights (both)

Neverwinter Nights. I haven't tried NW2, but I'll be getting it soon.

Also: Baldur's Gate 2 [Throne of Bhaal expansion if you like it], Icewind Dale 2.

QFT. Although it pissed me off they couldn't get the AI right, etc. And the atmosphere isn't the same... I dunno...

Thanks! I am downloading Titan Quest demo now.

What about Guild Wars? A friend wanted me to come over and see the game for myself, but I haven't got the time to do so, yet.

Titan Quest was a good game, but it was LOOOONG. NormallyI don't mind, but TQ felt stretched for the sake of making it a longer game, rather than to accommodate more story or features. It is very Diablo-esque, though. I jokingly call it D3.

I dunno, I think I like multiplayer more, because you can trade items. This is why I was asking about Guild Wars

Guild Wars is a great game (addict right here). Biggest plus is that you can redistribute skill points in any town, which is a huge plus when compared to Diablo II. Biggest minus is there isn't as much item variety as in Diablo II. I highly recommend it.

Another nod to Titan Quest.

I played through Diablo 1, 2, expansions single player, never got into online play too much (massive hacking pissed me off, lol)

If you like multiplayer and want some PvP, I'd recommend Guild Wars: Nightfall.

The PvE part of the game unfolds at a nice pace. The storyline is heads above the stories of the previous two chapters. As with Factions (the second chapter), Nightfall can be completed in a week of hard gaming. But then, so could D2. :) The many miniquests will add more hours to the game. For $50, you'll have a very good time over break.

If you enjoy PvP, then GW also offers extremely balanced PvP. AN often rebalances the skills, too, to ensure PvP balance. It is not necessary to own all chapters in order to play PvP. Some skills are designated as "core," which means that you will get these skills no matter which chapter you own. Others are designated as campaign-specific, in which case they are unique to the specific chapter you own.

For most casual PvP, you'll not need to own more than one chapter. Should you become interested in competitive PvP, you'll need to have at least Prophecies (the original GW game). However, there is no need to go through the storyline to get access to the skills. You can buy PvP versions of the games with all the skills unlocked. This won't give you access to the PvE games, but in all honesty, if you decide that you're interested in the PvP game, you're better off simply purchasing the PvP versions of the previous games. Doing so will save you over a hundred hours of skill hunting.

It is possible to buy PvP versions of all games, but if you like the RPG aspects of the action game, it's worth buying the complete game.

Hope this helps.

Didn't any of you who played Titan Quest get serious crashes and bugs? I got it when it first came out and continued playing up until the 2nd patch release and then my entire quest log suddenly vanished. Got so fed up with the bugs that I haven't touched the game since. Not sure how stable it is now after it's 5th? or 6th? patch release.

Some more RPG PC games.
Deus Ex
Neverwinter Night
