I am looking for a simple ISP with no pop-ups and huge installs like AOL. I don't know any since I have been on cable for last 4 years but I need one for my dad.

If they are in your area, EV1 is a good dialup ISP. Lots of numbers, unlimited emails and 300 MB web space for $10 per month.

Just go DSL for $19.95 a month.
I heard they are doing a promo tomorrow (?) for $14.95 a month for one year.

Earthlink... I don't know why you think it's bloated, as they have standard PPP connections unlike netzero and others.

who are "they"? I am guessing you are talking about SBC. Verizon isn't as cheap as SBC on east coast.

If they're offering access numbers all over the place. They're just using someone else's network anyway.

Depending on your ISP, they might over dial-up services aswell, I know Road runner does, that is free, call them and find out
