I dont need sunglasses as good as oakley's. I'm not poor, but I don't have the cash to buy a luxury item for EVERYthing I own, and high priced sunglasses are not a priority.

Seriously. Oakleys are nice and all, but you pay a big fat premium for the name.

Check the online bike stores for closeouts on glasses. You can pick up nice stuff like Smith, Native, Bolle, etc for cheap.

An example of what I'm talking about.

I have loved every pair of Oakleys I've owned (probably up to 7 or so now) - and I always get good resale prices when I sell my older models.

I think it's safe to say that Oaklye naysayers have never had a chance to wear them for a few hours.

Maui Jims are very nice, but they're price and fragility make them not well suited for places where Oakleys work great. Plus something about Oakley lenses make it easier to see things moving fast to me. They make great shooting glasses.

Yeah, they have that article at all their retail stores. If you ask about buying Maui Jims from them, they say, "But the Oakleys have better lenses..."

Again, I think Oakleys are better for action and sports... But as far as lounging or just day to day activities, Maui Jims are a treat for the eyes. They provide great blocking of everything that might hurt your eyes, and they let you see things that you normally couldn't see. IE: Tint on windows, through glare on water, through clothing, etc.

I've had my pair of Arnettes (polarized) for quite a while now, almost 3 years and they are still perfect in every way. Bought them for $150CAD which is $107USD.

I'd look on Sunglass Hut since they have a good policy (good warranty, rebates for stolen/broken shades). I always thought I'd never buy from them, but they don't rip people off like some people thinks - I couldn't find my shades cheaper elsewhere.

Bwhahaha Sunglasshut? They DO rip people off. My g/f works there and they often have 50 percent off promotions for their (luxotica) employees to boost sales at lower preforming stores. It never fails to shock me how much these stores in particular marks up their prices.

Just to add gas to the fire, I received today a $20 rebate from Sunglass Hut because of my upcoming birthday, cool!!

So I suppose you don't buy Nike shoes either? Do you shop at CC/BB/Fry's? Deal with it. There's huge markup in retail, whatever the product. And many times, companies control prices. For example, Bose stuff always goes on sale at the same time everywhere. I believe the same is true of a lot of high-end eyewear.

I just shelled out $200 for a pair of Revos this past week. Still getting used to the polarized lenses but I'm starting to really like them.
