I just read a book called The Lion's Game by Nelson DeMille. A plane full of dead people manages to land in New York, and an ex-cop member of a terrorist task force begins his pursuit of a badass terrorist dude. It's a fairly long book, but I thought it was well-written and it kept my attention.

There's always George R. R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" series. Start at the beginnning, of course, with "A Game of Thrones". You will not regret it!
