Suggesions for Notebook wireless nic that has antenna connection

I got my first laptop last Friday and a D-Link wireless nic and router for it. It wireless network works decent in the house. I saw on newegg that I can get an antenna for the router (probably) to extend it's broadcast. What I am interested in is extending the range of the wireless nic on the laptop. I read that some cards have a plug in that allows me to add an antenna to the wireless nic.

What cards are good values when it comes to that? Would I be better off getting a USB wireless network device to extend the range on the laptop when I need the extra range?

Yep that's what I'm looking for, thanks. It's a "b" though. Any that have "g" as well? Nevermind found one here

Any large brand companies make these like Netgear, Linksys, or D-Link or is it just outfits like that?
