Hi All
I have these choices for board. Is AMD faster than P4 and easy to overclock if yes the new Barton core. Which board is easy to overclock.

For AMD
MSI K7N2DILSR (How is MSI this will be my first time using them if I decide to buy. Used Asus before)
Abit NF7-S NFORCE2
Asus A7N8XDX NFORCE2

I need Dual DDR,SATA,Firewire, 8XAGP. And also which AMD to use 2600+ or 2800+. Is it worthwhile building a dual AMD 64.

For P4 with 2.4(533) or Pentium 4 2.4 GHz (800 FSB)
MSI 875PLSR P4 875P
ABIT IC7
MSI 865PE Neo2-LS (Is there any reason that MSI boards are better priced than ASUS).
Thanks :)

My personal preference is the Asus. Other members love the Abit board. I notice that there is mix opinions on the MSI boards in general.

AMD and Intel CPUs are better at different things. Dollar for Dollar I would go AMD. But if you plan on doing any video editing that uses SSE2 then go Intel.

Myself, I have a Abit NF7-S with a Athlon XP and a Ati video card

I already have a ASUS but I had so many problems with their RMA and for MSI(they offer more features for their $$$, has any of the members seen any problems with Abit or MSI)
Thanks

My Abit NF7-S is working great. The onboard sound is awesome also. I have a 1700+ running at 2Ghz with a 166Mhz FSB.

Also take the intel number and divide by 4, AMD divide by 2. So the 800Mhz bus is really a 200Mhz, and amds 400Mhz is really a 200Mhz. So get some decent PC3200 ram and you will be good to go no matter what Board or CPU you get.

Another vote for the Abit NF7-S board. I'd go with a Barton 2500+ with some DDR400 RAM and it should overclock to 3200+ speeds without a hitch on stock cooling.

I have the Asus and it's great, unless you have to RMA it. One word describes the Asus tech support\RMA process... SUCKS.

How about the Albatron KX18D PRO II ? It's a new board that's gotten pretty good reviews, supposed to be a very good overclocker (if you have a good power supply), and it's only $107 at Newegg. I'm thinking about ordering one for my Barton 2500.

Don't waste one red cent on the 'B' model of Intel's Pentium 4. Get the 800MHz FSB 'C'. If you have the jimmy and want the best right now, go with the 2.8Ghz P4 (or in a couple months get the P4 EE Extreme Edition @3.2Ghz). If your a big AMD fan, wait for the 64.

Well, I have a A7N8X deluxe and 2500+ for me, A7N8X and 2200+ for the kids, and a K7N2G and 2100+ for the wife and just built a system for a buddy with a K7N2Delta and 2500+.
All have been very good and I would recommend any of them. As for OC, I like the Asus much better, seems to be much easier to recover from an OC gone bad. I would also recommend the 2500+ over the others, very easy to hit 3200+ speeds.
