Sudden Systeem Shutdowns! HELP!

My system will shutdown sometimes when I go to play a game, ie Doom3, HL2, UT2004, and so on. When it happens, its normally very soon after game starts. Any Ideas where the problem may lie?

to be more exact Ill resate the issue. during any and all normal operation, everything appears to work perfectly, but when i start doom3, hl2, ut2004......... the computer will shutdown, power off, instantly as if unplugged and not turn back on. usually within the first 10 seconds of starting a game, rarely it will play a game fine but when I stop that game and start another one; doom 3 - ut2k4; it will power off within a few seconds of starting the second game.

the enermax psu has an aux power connector just for gpu's and I use it, though Ive tested the other to see if that was the issue and that didnt make any difference. btw this was my first build. Techs ive met and in small talk have suggested three ideas, its the mobo, its the psu, or its the cpu hs/fan not being well situated. I do not belive its a faulty mobo, the cpu has been perfectly set and reset and never goes over 55c under the heaviest loads, and as for the psu like everything else in this is brand new retail.

The fact that its powering down when running a highend application (IE: 3D app), which drains alot of power...leads me towards a faulty power supply. Do you have a spare around to swap out?

memtest86 found no errors. ive found many errors in my error log under admin apps pertaining to my p.o.s. cdrom drive having bad sectors or something. could a badly malfuntioning cdrom be at fault?

ive 9 fans in my rig all together. My cpu and gpu never go over thier mid to hig rated temps. I also turned on shut down and power off instancing for my event log in the registry, but since the thing powers off so suddenly, nothing is saved or logged!

How many other drives have you got running?
Have you got many USB peripherals plugged in? or firewire?
How many pci slots are taken up, and what with?

All these use power from your psu.

Try unplugging as many peripherals as you can - leave essentials - vga/hdd/ram/cpu!
take out floppy/cd/dvd/modem/etc.
disconnect all usb
see if this seems to stall the problem.
IF yes, then, plug back one at a time to see what happens.

IF no fix, then, either the psu is really dodgy, or, a dodgy earth somewhere.
for instance,
If, when the system is off, you gently shake the case, can you hear screws rattling?

Ive one sata hd, no usp perfs, and one pci slot used with a sound blaster card. Ive checked for loose screws and the case is clean.
