I have a Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 710. My video card is a Diamond Stealth III S540 (this is a work computer). I had a sudden onset of blurring which is most pronounced at the corners but is also evident in other areas. Some portions of the screen are still sharp. Any thoughts as to the cause, monitor?, video card? Thanks.

There could be several different causes. One could be the video cable. I had my trinitron monitor cable go bad, and it caused jitters and fuzziness. Replaced that for $20 and it went away. Another could be a problem with your video card, not positive but I think it would be your RAMDAC going bad. And the most frightening one, is your monitor is loosing its focus. Which is adjustable, but its very dangerous. If you go ahead with this, please please please be careful, an open monitor has alot of voltage and it is possible for some very serious damage could be done to yourself.

Thanks Packet. I will check out my cable. Luckily I have a GeForce MX arriving today so I will be able to eliminate the card if the cable checks ok. I believe the monitor is still under warranty-I got it about one year ago. What a hassle if its the monitor-I hope its the cable. I will post the results of my findings.

Just to let you know. Installed new video card-no change. The cable is integral to the monitor. I'm afraid at this point it is the monitor.

Backing off on the brightness improves the focus on most monitors. Maybe the tube has dimmed slowly over time and you've turned up the brightness to compensate.

dkozloski raises a good point
happened to one of my monitors, the exact same thing.
Unfortunetly how I fixed it was opening my monitor and playing with the focus/brightness :\

No. there are definite areas that are out of focus and others that are as sharp as ever. Im stumped at this point. Will try to contact Mitsubishi tech after the 1st and see what they say. Appreciate the input though.

I had a 20 year old plus TV that is now looking like new after I took it apart and adjusted the focus, etc.
