Hi,

Just been working on a little upgrade, and I thought I'd share the results.

First, the core of the system:

Pentium 4 1.6A running at 2.4Ghz, 1.65v, retail HSF (wowzers!)
VisionTek Geforce3 Ti200, running at 220/500 (lucky, or is this normal??)
Asus P4B266 motherboard, BIOS 1005 (onboard sound WILL NOT WORK -- causes hard lockup)
256MB PC2100 (GENERIC!!!!)
Enermax 350W Manual Fan Control (rheostat on back of PSU)

Stable running Prime95 for 30 minutes (i'll test longer, but I wanted to get to 3dmark).

These tests are all done on 3DMark2001SE, default benchmark, CPU running at 2.4Ghz (150Mhz FSB) with the Windows Update nvidia driver (21.83 i believe). The core and memory speeds were adjusted with the coolbits registry tweak.

core/mem: 175/400 - 6774 3dmarks
core/mem: 200/460 - 7557 3dmarks
core/mem: 220/500 - 8033 3dmarks

Needless to say, I'm quite impressed with that. I have no comments on overall system stability as of yet, sincie I haven't been running it that long at this speed. It ran at 2.13Ghz, with default video settings for a long time with no problems.

edit: memory speeds (400 was 200, and 460 was 230)

I got mine yesterday and it works fine at 215/500, not sure how much I want to push beyond that. What drivers are you using? I had some problems with one of the beta ones last night :(

Well, I have my 1.6@2.352 and my Gainward GF3 Ti200 @ 240/520.

My 3dMark2001 score is 8566.
So, your overclock on the card could probably go even higher than you have it now.

Definitely a great gaming combo!

Hope you don't mind me posting my results here, as they are an almost identicle score, 8036 with 3DMark 2001SE, default settings....

Rig:
Athlon XP1800+ @ 1610 (140 FSB)
on a Epox 8HKA+
Elsa GF3 running at 220/500
Windows 2000 SP2
21.83 Drivers

I was suprised the scores are so close considering the clock speed disparity.

Heh, you do mean 175/400, 200/460 , 220/500 I assume.

Wow, I didnt realize how crappy the card does by default!

Btw, I'm running pretty much the same thing: GF3 Ti 200 @ 226/501 , P4 1.8A @ 2.25, 256 MB DDR @ 333 on a P4B266.

As for the o/c ... I've tried pushing my videocard, and the point of instability is 235-240 core and 530-540 memory. I'm running 220/500 for absolute stability.

Here's mine!

p4 1.6a @ 2133
Asus P4B266-c
256mb Crucial 2100 (memory is set to 1:1, Turbo 1)

Visiontek GF3 TI200 @ default speed
Detonator 21.83 for WinXP
205/490
3DMARK2001 score: 7549

*was getting low scores, realized I had FSAA turned all the way up. :) Much better now.

Haha! I'm working on building a similar system. I have to RMA my ASUS i845D before I can set it up, though.

I'll have
ASUS i845D
P4 1.6A @ 2.4 oem cooling
512 registered DDR
Geforce4 Ti4600 (maybe 4400 but probably the 4600)

:D

I can't wait.

Z24, did you have to do any major tweaking to get that p4 up to 2.4? Or was it just a bios setting? What's your fsb setting with that 2.4 overclock?

Buck_Naked, I think the scores are so close because the system is video card limited. Look at my scores for the slower video card speeds -- drastic difference. I'll try running 3dmark at the lowest resolution and see what i get. You should do the same and post back here.

FFMCobalt, No major tweaking. I'm honestly surprised it worked as I didn't spring for the expensive RAM (I would have had to order it, and there's a computer store directly below me that has the normal stuff--it's all about impatience). Anyway, FSB is 150, memory ratio is set to Auto, voltage is set to 1.65 (lower worked for 3dmark, but prime95 would give errors). Also set it to "Turbo 1". I forget what that's under, but it's easy to find. The RAM is set by the SPD. Retail heatsink / fan on the P4.

OK, ran the benches... your probably correct about the Video card being the limitation, I wasn't thinking when I posted that...

Rig:
Athlon XP1800+ @ 1610 (140 FSB)
on a Epox 8HKA+
Elsa GF3 running
Windows 2000 SP2
21.83 Drivers

Set 3DMark2001SE at 640x480x16 and card at 200/460 I got 9633
Set 3DMark2001SE at 640x480x16 and card at 220/500 I got 9667

I am anxious to see your scores....

Those 1.6A GHz overclocks never cease to amaze me. Truly this is one of the best overclocking chips ever made. .

I just hope in a few weeks time we don't see a fallout of failed chips because they're being run at such high voltages.

I don't exactly remember what mine's at, but last time I checked my overclocking, my P3 750 was running right around 1.6v

I don't know if this helps draw any conclusions... it's higher, but not that much. I'm also running WinXP. I don't know if that has an effect on scores.

640x480x16, 220/500, 2400mhz = 9893
640x480x16, 220/500, 2133mhz = 9144
