Subwoofer placement...

I have an Creative Inspire 5.1 5300 audio speaker system w/ Audigy gamer (dang I love this card!). Where's the best place to put the sub? Is t safe to place it on top of my computer's case? My case is this .

I guess the answer to your question is yes, however it is not really a good idea for two reasons:

1. The shaking from the Sub will eventually rattle something loose in your case, and hope it isnt your HS&F from your CPU

2. Subs are designed to be placed near (but not against) a wall such as a corner of a room to spread the lows throughout the room, and once again see #1 🙂

shouldnt subs be placed at least a foot or two away from your tower or monitor due to some magnetic fields the sub produces?

that what they recommend for the z560's (MAD BASS!), but i dont know if it applies for others.

vfxraven19, like InsaneMorphius said, I would not recommend placing a sub on top of your computer case. If you have the time, the best way to place a sub is near a wall, preferable in a corner spot. Of course this is just my opinion, considering the sub is small and light, try different locations till you're pleased w/ it's sound. Hope this helps a bit 🙂

YOu are partly correct...most subs are not sheilded. You case acts as a shield, and you HDS are ver well sheild so basically your only probably is with the vibrations. I had my Klipsch sub under hter with no problems(give me a break, I was bored)....needless to say it is back in the corner because it sounded like crap near me...about 8feet is a good distance for the "best and richest" bass to reach you perfectly.

In case you missed the message from the other posts, DO NOT place the sub on your case. Your hard disks are very sensitive and if your sub is thumping while your hd is reading/writing, you will have major problems. And I'm pretty sure your sub is not magnetically shielded.

In terms of sound quality, if you want loud bass, just throw your sub in a corner. If you're looking for quality, it'll take some time to find a good spot, but a good starting point is near a corner but leave at least a foot and a half of space from the walls. If possible, try to have the sub closer to one wall than the other.

It'll take some time to find a good spot, but keep playing those CD's and listen for smooth, extended bass.
