I ordered a footlong steak & cheese ++ cookies ++ an orange juice that came to $16~$17 on Thursday the 26, Nov 2010, and today my online CC transaction statement shown that $34.77 was charged to my account. (stupid me didn't keep the receipt).

Lesson learn, but should I talk to the store manager as there maybe a problem with their system, or their employee is being dishonest?

I have never had AMEX ask for proof of an incorrect charge. I tell them it's incorrect, they reverse the charge.

lol. I once was at a deli, ran by a German immigrant couple. The poor lady said, "oops" as she covered her mouth in shock.
It's a credit POS terminal where you manually enter the charge. The sandwich, chips and coke costs $7.42 cents. It was a $742.00 sandwich after the "oops."
The husband of the couple fixed it by crediting everything back. They were so embarrassed they tried to get me to eat there for free for a week.

Had a place here double charge my cc once ($30). Took cc statement to manager and he credited the amount and gave additional $30 worth of food for free. Great customer service

Most likely won't be a problem. Transactions under $25 typically don't require a signature. You wouldnt have signed a receipt saying $34.77 right? If you did, oops your bad. If not, call your bank they will fix it by requesting a copy of a signed receipt which subway won't have.

Do you remember cashier doing a void and then ringing you again ? If so, the way merchants account works is that charges get posted right away while credit can take 3-5 business days.

Also, sometimes, merchant banks make mistakes which are corrected automatically after a day or two.

There was a problem with one of the merchant banks lately (we got a memo about it last week). Cannot recall the name of the bank but it could be linked to your card. Our Memo stated that all charges would be fixed automatically shortly. That could have happened also.

That is nice of them. Good for them on admitting and fixing the mistake right away.

So it was really the 25th? You went to . . . SUBWAY . . . on Thanksgiving? D:

The extra charge was for your desperation compounded by your extreme lack of taste.

Going to Subway at any time is FAIL.

Going to Subway on Thanksgiving is DOUBLE FAIL.

Spending $16-17 at any time at Subway for one meal is TRIPLE FAIL.

Getting charged $34 for said meal is QUADRUPLE FAIL.

Getting charged $34 for a meal at Subway on Thanksgiving nets you a ONE BIG FOOTLONG OF FAIL.
