I walked in to get myself a sub but left after seeing the line. I went back in 45 minutes and even though it was a little better, the line was still long. So I counted the people: 37 :Q That frickin place didnot have any space stand on... crazy, and this store has a premium on their prices... Footlong chicken breast costs 6.49 compared to 5.49 or 5.99 elsewhere. Frickin nuts.
 
Subways are great little franchise investments.
If you tell people they will lose weight using your product, it will sell like hotcakes to a fatty.
 
When i used to work in midtown nyc, there must have been 2 or 3 subways in a 3 block radius.

each of them had at least a 20 minute wait during lunchtime.

Actually my coworker looked into buying a Subway... she said you barely break-even, their margins aren't that high...

Then again it all depends on your location...
 
Subway has gone from passable to disgusting, I don't see why anyone would eat there when you could make a better sandwich yourself at home for 1/4th the price. The only sorta fast food-ish place i can stomach anymore is panera bread and 5 guys burgers, and they aren't any more expensive than Taco Bell or Wendy's or Subway anymore.

You park one of those places near a heavy office populace and you don't even have to keep them open at night.

uhhhh what the... i know the subway on university city blvd across kroger was disgusting (oh the smell) but not all subways are like that, some actually do make good subs. the one near my house is actually pretty good. the owner figured to make me better subs (more meat, more veggies) for the same price as I frequent there and they even give me coupons that I can use elsewhere 🙂 and don't forget that not everyone is in college anymore... you expect me to go home during lunch hour? 🙂

The guy who opened a Subway near where I live is doing so well that he opened a second one on the Upper West Side (he told me so himself -- cool, fit, young guy, not what you'd expect).
