Substitute for "glove oil"?

Well, I picked up a couple of baseball gloves on sale at Target & after reading the break-in instructions it appears that I need "glove oil" to rub into the glove after use. I really don't want to make another trip to the store so I was wondering if I could use something like leather balm (for shoes) or cooking oil as a substitute.

However, I don't want to end up ruining or staining my gloves, so I figured someone here would know...

thanks

Leather balm woudl do, probabaly take a bit more work though. I've also heard that you can use olive oil to do it but that you want to stay away from veggie oil since it most likely will go rancid. Not sure why you can use olive oil and it won't do that....I would say just go get some glove oil...

butter and garlic mmmmmm

Actually I always thought you could use butcher's wax or something like that, could be wrong though.
