uhm yeah, in an effort to help convince more people to subscribe to at forums, maybe those who are subscribed should have the option of displaying a "subscriber" icon under thier name on the left. it wasn't until people started complaining about the ads that i realized just how many subscribers there are on here. the idea is similar to "trillian pro" users on the trillian boards or "total fark" farkers on fark.com

maybe turn it on for the subscribers and let them opt out (altough i can't imagine why someone wouldn't want to let the rest of the forums know they subscribe)

p.s. no i'm not a subscriber, but i will sub as soon as i've got some cash. course i'll take a free sub if you want to implement the idea ;)

Some people just put the word subscriber in their sig. But I almost always use up just about every last available bit of character space in my sigs, so there's not enough left to do that. What about "senior subscriber," "Diamond Subscriber," etc, instead of member? Could something like that even be implemented?

I like the "custom title" option. It'd be neat if subscribers had different options for their title they could pick from, kind of like the Avatars.

I think that's a really good idea actually, change "Member" to "Subscriber" in the member ranking. It's elegant and gets the point across without being intrusive.

That's what Ars Technica does on their forums, and it's nice. However, this has been asked for before, and shot down.

It may not be in FuseTalk. They could do it manually, but it'd never scale with postcount. They'd probably have to have two different versions of fusetalk, one on the subscriber server and one on the normal server.

But then I'm just guessing, I have no idea :D

Anand has said that he doesn't want people going around acting all "holier than thou" because they're subscribers. He doesn't want there to become a rift between the two groups, so they're just going to leave it at giving the Subscribers a better interface with AT.

No, their is no reason to differentiate subscribers from non-subscribers. Anandtech is not about pressuring people to subscribe.

...because they're subscribers. He doesn't want there to become a rift between the two groups,
he he , you mean except for the "i hate those ads". ..."what ads , i don't see no stinkin' ads ?" thing.
i don't feel a need for a note about subscribing , the waves of contentment from not knowing what ads are being discussed is plenty good.
