I second that. We really need an true explanation, not one like the excuse given by Valve about a hacker, that, or, enable subscriptions.

I must have missed what's going on here. Am I reading correctly that we won't be able to re-subscribe after our current subscriptions run out? If so, that bites!!

You read it right. Almost 2 months now, and STILL no official statement from Anand on this. Maybe he's ignoring the forums and hoping that they'll just go away?

My subscription ended last night... moving AMD ads, all my subscriber.anandtech.com bookmarked topics are invalid, and, yes, it'll be very, very difficult to participate in a FS/FT forum. Things seem a little slower, but that might just be all the ads loading.

The fact that the search feature was cut back (if I remember the time before subscription) to topic only when subscription was created is really bugging me.

Anand, I wish that you would get back to Narzy. IMHO you are not running a good business because your lack of communication to everyone. I realize you are busy with this and that and going to school but it takes just a minute to send an email or post a message.

This whole subscriber issue is a real mess too. Just come foward already and tell it like it is. It's not that hard to be honest now is it? The FS/FT forum is gonna go down the crapper if the PM limit is not increased. Communication is the key to good trades and with a crappy PM limit it really puts a damper on trading. I have over 200 heatware entries and everyone is positive because of good communication.

This was posted in Anands web blog and emailed to him but he will probably just ignore it as usual.

I sure hope that they aren't hoping the requests will just die out. In reality, there is a very likely chance that is what is going on, but based on past threads and responses I've read from Anand in terms of support, I'd expect an official statement sometime soon, but I sadly don't see it coming...

I wasn't aware that Zuni had anything to do with the subscriptions.

I was being facetious, I don't know who besides Anand is in charge of it......

I know there are some people here who subscribed just prior to the pull of the subscription pages, would it be possible for those of us who want to to pay to have access up until their expiration date, whatever that is?

Even if it's only a few months I'll gladly pay the $30 to extend it.

I've said many times I'm willing to pay far more than $30 a year for this service, if someone would give me the chance to do it they'd have my money.

actually the other thread was started on august 15th...so we are approaching 2 months, which makes me think that there will never be an answer...
started earlyer than that. i was emailing a month before that thread got started . zuni jumped in and got mine fixed just in time so i think i'm good till august of next year.
has anyone looked at the top of their "today" page ? this place is still tryin to sell subscriptions.

PLEASE QUIT BENCHMARKING , SCMOOSING HARDWARE COMPANIES , AND WRITING ARTICLES FOR OTHER MAGAZINES FOR 5 MINUTES AND TELL YOUR LOYAL SUBSCRIBERS WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON !!

I've emailed Anand with the typical no response and I posted in his weblog.

We were gonna have Anandtech tshirts too with Narzy running the shop and Anand is "too busy" to even get back to him. I don't understand how hard it can be to make a simple post about what is going on. Everything has to be such a big freaking secret. It's like he's still a kid and I know he's not, he's moving into his own house.

amdskip, maybe the thing to do is to cc your letter to other hardware sites, esp ones with subscriptions, and ask if it's the end of anandtech. If the users can't get a response, maybe the peers can.

I think subscriptions have to bring in more money than non (per capita)... even after paying for the extra servers. If it's losing money, they have another year of that to look forward to (based on the last yearly subscribers). Now, if anand is thinking about getting out of the business and moving on with life, trimming the subscriptions is a way to start shrinking the operation now and would also limit the number of refunds he might have to give later (anand's probably not going to Shawn White subscribers).

Shoot I had to delete ~900 PM's when mine ran out. I was able to sign up again though when they brought back the sub page.

Three days ago Zuni said this:

Full text search is still a subscriber feature (people who paid for a subscription to the forums), but it will change in the future. No, I don't know when....

A more official announcement on subscription is coming in the next few days.

Finally three days is up!!!
Ill trade my womans computer for a subscription....?
