Submit your banners for TA membership ad

Must be 120x60 pixels in size. You have exactly one week from Now, we will have a Poll in here to determine the winner. The winning banner will be seen approximately 225,000 times in a 30 day period.

I'll also throw in 1,000 RC5 blocks to the winner.

Train - what are the acceptable formats?
Any limit to filesize - i.e. for animated GIF's - etc?

go ahead and make 'em as big as you want, at 120x60 the file size cant get to big, if it is, i could just run it thru fireworks and tone down the colors. but it shouldnt be a problem. GIF is probably preffered, but im sure they will take jpeg

I have an Idea, was saving the final logo for SAK's Rockford Distributed Computing Site, but TA takes priority.

Yeesh, why is it whenever I go to school, I come back to find you guys causing trouble.😉 Anyways, it'll be interesting to see how this turns out, since I know we'll have no problem getting the 350 needed to buy the space(Russ doesn't need that optical implant, does he?😛). Watch out world, here comes TA!😀

Vss, why don't you submit all your logo GIFs? I, at least, think they're all deserving of consideration.

Any particular message that we want to convey in the banner?
Anything anyone wants to do would be great. Are these along
the lines we want? Are we trying to hook them into distributed
computing with the message which leads to a web page that describes
distributed computing and offers a painless way to join, under
teamanandtech of course?

What kind of site(s) will the banner be shown on?
It might help to know the audience to include a hook in the message.

"A cycle is a terrible thing to waste." (A bicycle? Too nerd-centric)

"A computer is a terrible thing to waste..."

"Ever wanted to own a supercomputer?"

"Is your computer bored?"

"Save humanity in your spare time!"

"Feel like your life has no meaning?"

(SETI-centric)
"What was that in your dream last night?"
"Did it have a bulging forhead and big eyes?"
"Find out if THEY are OUT THERE." OR "Help find out..."

"Join the race to find E.T.!"

(RC5-centric)
"Help show the Man that the Internet isn't safe!"

"Ever wanted to crack a security code?"

"Ever wanted to crack an encryption code?"

Any other ideas?

I agree with divide_by_zero.

You have to have something that says, "Join Team anandtech and put your spare cycles to use, and have some fun at the same time". Try putting that on the banner.. hehehe 😀

d.net has a bunch of good banner designs that may help us get ideas (I'm not advocating that we should blatently steal their ideas, just use them for inspiration) here (reload page for more banners).

Also, in general, I believe it is a good idea to keep banners as small as possible (I seem to remember someone here saying to use 10kb limit).

I wish I had a sense of design so I could participate 😉

ROTFLMAO - some of those banners are a HOOT!

Gotta "assimilate" some of those ideas!

DO we get just one gif or can we have multiple in rotation?
