I mainly want a G-Sync compatible monitor because of MS-DOS emulation as many DOS games are programmed for 70Hz and thinking that I might as well upgrade to OLED as well since prices are coming down on them. DOS Box Staging supports VRR. I heard that flickering with VRR turned on is a common issue with OLEDs. Is this true for QD-OLEDs as well? I was considering a 27" QD-OLED 4k 240Hz monitor that is on sale right now. Also should I have to worry about VVR flickering on an OLED if the G-Sync drops down to a locked 70Hz and stays there in a DOS game that is programmed for 70Hz and in a modern game I just cap my frame rate to a frame rate that I think I will maintain most of the time and still keep G-Sync turned on so the G-Sync syncs up exactly to the capped frame rate I set it to, for example in FS2024, I can cap it to 60 fps in the settings but have a refresh rate of 240Hz (if the monitor supports 240Hz) and let the G-Sync sync down to the capped 60 fps. Would that cause VRR flickering on OLED or would the flickering start happening only during those times that my system drops below the capped 60 fps with G-Sync on as the G-Sync rate fluctuates when below the capped 60 fps in FS2024? I was also considering a 27" IPS 2K monitor with G-Sync compatibility and 180Hz refresh rate, and setting the refresh rate to 180Hz but still capping FS2024 to 60 fps. I'm right now using a basic 23" 1080p 60Hz screen but I have an RTX 4090 in my system that I'm not really taking advantage of.
