Nice cars and would consider an Outbook as my next vehicle. But they do need to get with the times and update their 4-speed Auto-transmission to a 5 or 6 speed.

Yep. That puts a big dent in the mpg and one reason I haven't bought one.

Outbook?

Outlook or Outback?

the new Impreza, and the new Forester saved them, specifically the Forester which now appeals to a larger crowd

I drove the STi; definitely thought it was pretty cool.

I'd go with an Evo X over the STi though. Since their performance is pretty close, I prefer the looks of the Evo X over the STi by quite a margin.

I was a little surprise to see the Forester rated at 20/26 by the EPA. The manual is only rated 20/27, so I don't think I'd say having a four speed auto puts a big dent in the mileage...

I liked the old Forester actually. I'm sure the new one is good for what it is, but it really kind of existed in its own micro-SUV niche. The new one is cool, but it doesn't really have much over any other small SUV in that class.

I've seen a few reviews really complain about only having 4 speeds and the quality of the shifts though, so it's not just about mileage it's also about how the car drives.

Your average subaru around here has one of those dog cages in the back and in driven by a late 30s to late 40s professional woman with no fashion sense. I
Haha, I know a person JUST LIKE THAT.

V6 ?.... you mean the 3.0 6 cylinder (and the 3.6 6 cylinder in the Tribeca) which is also a boxer, just like all of subaru's engines.

Stupid SOA, bring back the LGT Wagon with a manual transmission! I don't want an outback.

Me think it is on purpose, the LGT Wagon was cutting into Outback sales.

+1, I searched for a few months for the LGT wagon w/manual, pretty tough to find but great package. Went with the ms3 instead.

I'm offended - what a thing to say about Impreza WRX owners - I don't abuse mine (too much ;))
