Kbb says 31k. Blackbook says 25k
Dealer said 27k trade in it is a 2010 sti se. 13400 miles.
Dealer said new sti would be 37k for wagon. It all seems like bumb deal.

If they gave me 30k I would buy the new sti wagon.

All this was over phone. He wanted me to come but I just laughed.

Suspension . They also sent an email stating they could give me up to 120% trade in value. That was a load of crap. So was just looking to see how crappy of a sell they are trying to feed me. I found if I buy the car from Costco car buying program I can get the same car they want 37k for at 35k

Why not just change out the suspension yourself?

I didn't care for them that way either, just felt cheap. But they are a blast and that goes a long way.

On topic though, maybe check out NASIOC or similar and see what they are selling for there. I am betting that will tell you a "real life" value. Then from there factor in how easy or difficult it may be to sell based on what you have done to it (if anything), if you live in a big or small town and the possible market for it, if it has certain feature packages on it, if you've devalued it with ricer or go-fast mods, and your general desire to dick around with it.

For example let's say you decide that similar cars sell for $30,000, yours is in slightly better shape than most but you really don't want to screw with ebay and flaky buyers, then perhaps $29,000 from the dealer might be your tipping point. Or something like that.

The dealers are taking into account the tax savings when they offer you up a value for trade in. so let's say he takes the 27k towards his new car and his tax rate is 7%. the dealer will act like he gave a real offer of almost $28,900. You have to account for this difference when you factor in selling private party, because it is real money.

in the end is 13k miles and a new suspension worth 7-10 grand?

Totally true, good point. Doesn't matter much if you're trading in a 10 year old car that's maybe worth a few grand used, but makes a big difference here. I'd still look at what they are going for private party, been when adjusting that to check out the dealers price you're right this is a real big factor as well.

its hard to wrap my mind around a 37k impreza. The interior is fairly pour for a 15k impreza. But 37k.

You don't buy a WRX/STI for its interior.

I think the Interior is decent, it gets the job done and buttons are well placed. Other than some interior rattles its just fine.
