FHI is the successor to Nakajima Aircraft, which was originally established as the Aircraft Research Laboratory established in 1917 by Chikuhei Nakajima (1884-1949) in Gunma Prefecture (approximately 70km north of Tokyo), at the site of Subaru's present manufacturing base.

My subarus were made in Indiana (legacy and outback)

I think the only current model made in Japan is the STI.

Subaru is owned my Fuji Heavy Industries...which is 20% owned by GM...so in india...they have a Chevy Forester :-x

do this as i say it

take your hand, place it palm up on the desk.
look at hand
rapidly bend the elbow while bringing the hand towards the forhead.

hit forehead extremely fast.

well, the STI is the 'performace' model...

STI = 2.5l / 300HP
WRX = 2.0l / 227hp

I might be wrong...the normal WRX might be made in Japan, too...not totally sure.

A Japanese company.

As a little trivia, subaru is the Japanese name for the constellation known to most of the western hemisphere as the Pleiades. Hence their logo.

I always thought Australia too, which is apparently wrong. I think the misconception has to do with the model names and the logo which kind of looks like the Aussie flag.
