Subaru Impreza WRX STi version coming to U.S.

I just read in the latest edition of Motor Trend that the STi version of the WRX is coming in 2 years. Fully factory tuned with ~276 hp (japanese regulations only permit 276) but i think the actual hp might be around 290 or more. damn I can't wait. The new design is actually growing on me and it doesn't look that bad with the CWest Bodykit.

ps. can we NOT include the word "C*M*R0" anywhere in this thread? they're totally different cars that don't compete with each other. *ahem* Vahalla.
 
nice, i was disappointed they didnt give us the jimmy kicker in the first place. instead they had to give us the weak ones (2.5RS, weak WRX). Hey atleast we're getting it, should be a real challenger and offer great tunability. I wonder how much theyre going to charge for this bad boy tho, $30K??
 
It's about time we get a non watered-down version of a Japanese sportscar! Ever since the big 3 stopped being imported, we haven't seen much from Japan...
 
One bad@ss car...been drooling over this car since Car and Driver did a test on the Japanese model a few years ago-----guess I'll start saving now.🙂

:Q yuck! it may have x amount of hp or whateve, but that link is exactly what a typical riced up beater looks like.. 😛



 
ahhhh.. there he is. i was WONDERING when Val would show up. kinda got me worried that he didn't. as for the rice comment, why is that such a bad thing? different people have different tastes. i for one like the rice image, it's an expression of your individuality. making a car look/perform the way you want it to is wonderful. people have been doing it forever! (ie hotrods!) so please don't knock it.

you LIKE big ugly triple-leveled spoilers higher than the roof line (which are 100% non-functional on the FWD cars they are 99% of the time put on)

you LIKE huge 7&quot; diameter fart pipe exhaust tips that serve NO purpose besides making an extremely obnoxious buzzing/farting noise?

you LIKE stupid huge ground effects and body kits, and a car covered with aftermarket product stickers that the car isn't even equipped with, and/or &quot;Type R&quot; or other badging of a car that is not what it is badged to be?

This is a AWD car, and I'm pretty sure the spoiler helps it in this case. It was used in the rally car.

again, this car is pushing ~270hp out of a 4-cyl, it needs a larger exhaust tip..but it's not 7&quot; big! It's more like 3&quot;.

again this car is tuned by all the companies stickers. And the body kit is there just for style..it won't be sold with that kit.

If you said all this for your everyday Civics/Accords/Riced cars I agree with you on all the points. But for this particular WRX STi, each element serves a purporse.

i LIKE 260 hp 4 cylinder engines in little small packages that rev to 9000 rpm. (my old civic)
i LIKE cars with super handling (wrx impreza) with looks that are mean as hell straight from the factory.
i LIKE factory spoilers that actually WORK, (impreza, lancer)
i LIKE beating mustangs with a sleeper turbo honda civic (my old car)

i DONT LIKE having to drive my SUV (but it'll change when the STi comes out in 2 years.)
