Sub zero temps + clear skies = rainbows?

It's -4 out. Not a cloud in the sky. And what do I see driving to work? A rainbow. At first I thought I was seeing things. Then I scanned the horizon a little bit and low and behold there was the other end of it to my right.

The "legs" were pretty visible but the curve was not.

Very cool to see that when you are least expecting. Sorry, no pics. My cell phone sucks and I'd be shooting right at the sun anyway so It'd one overexposed mess anyway.
 
It's caused by water turning to ice crystals in the upper atmosphere. They start acting like prisms. Cool stuff.
 
We get sun dogs in southern Arizona in winter time as well. Not the full blown rings but the rainbow spots below and to the sides of the sun.
