Sub-Notebooks

Hi everyone im new *waves* a friend introduced me to this site and it is an invaluable source of information for him and I.

Im looking for an old sub-notebook im willing to spend 200-300 dollars and i wasnt sure what to get.The main three i was looking at was
1.Toshiba libretto 110ct there on ebay but not BIN , also the japanese models that they made are faster but i guess nobody wants to sell them.
2.Sony PictureBook PCG C1VP Faster than my previous sub i was looking at , saw one on ebay for 300 but shipping is a killer!
3.Fujitsu LifeBook P2000 / P1120 (1120 preferred).
I will mainly be typing emails and doing remote networking for my stuff at home with a little storage and chat stuff.Music/chatting possibly some photoshop.I saw going for 250 and up on ebay maxing out at around 350ish without the unit being upgraded. Also other than ebay where am i getting such devices it seems nobody wants to give em up
edit:condition doesnt really matter scratches and fading stickers dont bother me as long as it works , cracks on the other hand bother me.

Or should i wait for the asus eec thing and install windows on there?

Can I assume sub-notebook is smaller than 12" screen?

If you're willing to go to 12" screen, check out the IBM Thinkpad X22 or that series. They're around $300 over a year ago when I got mine. It does everything I need on it. Even runs CounterStrike (not source) decent. Thin and light.

I did upgrade the ram and harddrive. I definitely recommend upgrading the RAM if it is in your budget.

yes , im trying to get the smallest one possible for portability , i dont really need to run games but i suppose that would be an added bonus

When'd you get the X30 for $300? It would have been an awesome deal when I was looking.

Thinkpad also has a 240X, which is subnotebook size. You can check ebay on it.

i am a whore for dell c400 laptops.. i have picked up several of them on ebay from anywhere between $80 and $200... you could get one with a 1.2ghz pIII and 512mb or ram for under $200, and if you are lucky an external cd drive too.. they are built real solidly and there are tons of them out there making it very easy to find parts...

cons are the external optical drive and under 2 hour battery life...

i don't know if they fit in your sub-notebook category though...

thats perfect as far as specs go but i want something oh lets say half that size, scott i was looking at your picture of the three dell c400 all together , you see the external drive between them?Exactly that size roundabouts and specs similar to the c400
