Question Sub-$200 Graphics Card

Hello,

I'm looking for a good graphics card that can support DOOM, Fallout 4/Fallout 76, and run Deep Learning simulations. I'd also like something that will be able to support Assassin's Creed Valhalla. I am looking for something inexpensive, preferably in the sub-$200 range, as I am currently on a budget. I'd like something I could keep for a few years and won't have to upgrade in the near future.

I was told to look at MSI components. I'm currently running an HP Workstation with an "Intel64 Family 6 Model 42 Stepping 7 GenuineIntel ~3401 Mhz", 16GB RAM, and an HP motherboard.

Even sub-$100 would be better.

The best you can do in that budget is probably a used RTX 2060 or 1660Ti

Not a chance in getting anything with much long term staying power at the very end of a terrible gpu generation with a new console generation three months out. At least not in the $200 range.

Sub $100 your only option is used RX 570. which is competent for 1080p but you'll be lowering settings today much less tomorrow unless you'd rather target 30 fps than 60 fps. Sub $200 you're looking at GTX 1660, RX 5500 XT 8GB (don't get the 4GB model), RX 580, or GTX 1650 Super as the only cards that make much sense, assuming you're buying new.

As for AC Valhalla, I mean you see R9 290X and GTX 970 as the cards officially recommended for 1080p30 by Ubisoft for AC Origins, and those two cards are roughly on par with the RX 570. So maybe you don't even hit 1080p30 with the RX 570 on AC Valhalla. Might have to go to at least the $160 range with the GTX 1650 Super or RX 580 then.

I will say RX 570 should have no problems whatsoever running Fallout 4 at 1080p60. I played that game on a GTX 970 which is slightly weaker than the RX 570 and got a nearly locked 1080p60 fps with everything maxed out except shadows if I remember right. Not sure on Fallout 76 as I never played it, but hopefully it's not too different since the games look the same graphically. Doom 2016 is easy to run at 1080p60 on RX 570 or better. Doom Eternal looks to be similar from gamegpu.ru's benchmarking. So I guess you gotta decide whether you're willing to shell out the money to play AC Valhalla at 1080p or not. The other stuff looks doable on a $95 used RX 570 (though I'd just pay $120 for a new one). But don't expect it to age well, the RX 570 is basically a four year old card now already. It aged beautifully in those four years though.

Consider RX 580/590, R9 390(X) or Fury, or 1660 super if budget allows. Some of these may be had for a good deal used, especially older ones like the Fury or 390 series. A good 290X could also work.

However, these cards are already at the lower end/older range as mentioned, and wont last very long. Your current budget simply will not last you that much longer, so you will need to upgrade again later most likely.

I've got a 1070 in the FS thread for $225 that should do ya good I think. It has an aftermarket AIO on it. I could take that off if water cooling doesn't interest you.
