Stutter at regular intervals...

Hi there,

I revently got an X800xl AIW to play WoW with. It looks and runs beautifully on my Athlon 2500+, execpt for one small nit pick that I have. Rougly every 3-4 seconds tehre is a tiny pause in the action. I was hoping that someone might know what may be causing this and give me an idea about how toremedy it. I'll pus some basic system specs below for reference...

Abit AN-7 Motherboard
1GB pc3200 Ram (2x512)
2x 80GB SATA HD's (One has WoW and the other has the swapfile)
1x 60GB ATA133 HD (O/S and most programs)
AIW x800xl 256mb AGP
AGP aperture set at 128mb
PCI latency at 64
Shaw cable modem (BC, Canada)

My sytem currently is not overclocked.

Try closing some of your background programs. I know that when I had mbm5 running, it would update cpu temps every 10 secs or so, and that's when I noticed a subtle pause.

with my x800xl when i run atitool the rug cube stutters as it spins... i have nothing running in the background...

doesn't stutter on my 6800 box...

the ati box does a 5500 3dmark05 with no problems...

curious... don't seem to see any stutter in games...

Could be due to texture resolutions being set too high. I had a similar "hitching" issue in FEAR with my x800xtpe when textures were set to max. Reducing that one setting to medium completely eliminated the problem. Of course, it might have been a game-specific problem - still, worth a shot.

If its only WOW stuttering its likely an internet issue... cable tends to b unreliable from wat I've heard. Make sure u dont have any spyware or applications consuming your bandwidth

Maybe a crappy power supply? I was having lockups with my 7800GT and a crappy 350w Hipro PSU. I got an Ultra X-2 Connect 550w PSU and now the lockups are gone.
