The firing in front of you was just and act to try and appease a customer. All that salesman did is just go hang out in the service lounge until you left. I've seen lots of guys fired in front of a customer, but they never really are. 😉

This salesman comes up to me and asks me what I want, and I show him the used tc and ask for the price. He says "20 thousand", I double back.


Me: "excuse me? 20?"
Salesman: "yes 20 thousand"
Me: "on this 2 year old used 20K mlie tC?"
Salesman: "yes"
Me: "but this new one costs 17K and is brand spankin new"
Salesman: "..."
Me: "and this used one is 20K?"
Salesman: "yes"
Me: "..."
Me: "... how much is that 4 year old mini cooper with 30K miles?"
Salesman: "26"
Me: "?!?!?!?! THE BASE MODEL IS 26 GRAND?!~"
Salesman: "yes"
Me: "What about the xB?"
Salesman: "18"
Me: "sir, I BOUGHT A NEW SCION XB FROM HERE FOR 14, AND YOU SAYIN THIS USED 30 THOUSAND MILE ONE IS 18 THOUSAND DOLLARS?"
Salesman: "yes"
Me: "can i talk to your manager please?"
Salesman: "what?"
Me: "your manager, the guy who gives you your paychecks. can i talk to him?"
Salesman: "why?"
Me: "BECAUSE I FVCKING WANT TO COMPLAIN YOU ASSBAG!!!"

So the manager comes by the parking lot and sees us.

Manager: "what is going on?"

I explained to the manager what's happening while the other dude is trying to interrupt me and the manager just shush's him and keeps listening to me. The manager turns to the sales guy, takes his glasses off, gives him a hard look, and goes "you dingbad, go home and do not come back." The look on the salesman's face was just priceless. He looked like he was in his late 40's. I've seen stuff from other salesmen that just made me go "...?!", but this was just new.

As for the xB, they are apparantly in high demand and a used one will fetch that type of price. You should do your homework.
A salesman is there to sell something for the best profit possible. He saw you as an easy teenage mark.

Also it really isn't that uncommon for used cars to be priced higher than new of the same model. If it was priced according to KBB 20k isn't too far off the mark............
