My NY state police hat that sits in my back window has gotten me out of at least 2 tickets. The cop would see the hat on his way up to talk to me, and when they got to the window, "Sorry sir, have a good day, and keep that speed down."
Are you really a NY state police, or that's just something you're carrying around?
As for my story, well it actually happened to my father. He went to the hospital with a friend. They parked their two motorcycles in one parking spot. When they came back, they had a ticket so he went in the office to get an explanation. They told him because he was "double-parked", or whatever that's called in english. Then he told them he wasn't because the two bikes were only taking one parking place. They said that wasn't how it works, so he asked them to proove it. They looked through their rules book for like 15 minutes but couldn't find anything. He told them he wasn't going to pay for this unless they could proove him wrong. He left his pager number, cell phone number, fax number and home number... so he said he wasn't leaving as a thief. Anyway they never called him back, probably because they never found that in the book. All that for a ... huge $1.75 fine. HAHAHAHA.
My father is just like that sometimes.. he said even if it would have been 10 cents, he would have done the same thing - it's the principle that matters.
