"Longtime eBay seller James Labrecque starts each of his listings with the same warning: "WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT YOU GET. NOTHING MORE AND NOTHING LESS." He's half right. Labrecque sold a locked floor safe on the auction site for $122.93, but the buyer found $26,000 cash inside. "I thought it was empty [...] So I put it on eBay" Labrecque told WMC-TV. "I feel like the stupidest idiot in the world." He has reached out to the Tennessee-based buyer, asking for half of the money. The buyer declined, quoting Labrecque's own caveat back to him. Hey, at least you got positive feedback! "

Sell $26,000 for $122? It works for me if I were the buyer.

I wouldn't say he was the stupidest ebayer of all time. It would have cost money for him to open the safe and it would have ruined it if they had to drill it. He had a lot of nerve asking for half the money though considering the buyer-beware tone of the listing.

Damn, sucks for the seller, awesome for the buyer though.

If I was the buyer I would MAYBE send 1k or so because I'm a nice guy. But half? Screw you! 😛

My sister in law's family found a locked floor safe when they were renovating. They didn't bother spending money trying to open what is probably an empty safe. Just put the new flooring right over it. I wonder if there is 26k in there...

That seller has some set of balls asking for half of the money. I can already picture him IRL as I've known people who would do this, and have done similar. Glad the buyer told him to pound sand.

That's ridiculous!
