Stupid wireless laptop won't work to save my life...

Ok here's the deal...

My g/fs house has a wireless network setup (I set it up) using a linksys router. A wireless pci card in her desktop and then another desktop computer hooked up directly to the router. The desktops both connect fine to the network. The laptop on the other hand is giving me all kinds of problems. It had a belkin card installed on it, but I took it out and started trying to use a linksys card thinking that for some strange reason the different brand cards weren't working correctly.

Now basically whats happening is I get the icon in the taskbar saying new wireless networks have been found, I click on it to connect and the screen that lists the networks it has found comes up. I check to connect to the network even though its not secure and click connect. After I do that the same thing happens, icon pops up saying network has been found yatta yatta, but I can't actually get it to connect.

So I took the laptop home with me, and I tried using it on my network. Still the same thing happening. Im open to any and all suggestions, just PLEEEEEEEASE help me get this working!
