OK, why can I start the Windows Messenger, without Outlook Express open, but once I started Outlook Express, I first must close Outlook Express, before I can close the Windows Messenger.

It's the easy way. I think there is an option in the Outlook option area that lets you keep Messenger from opening.

But isn't that kinda un-logic this behaviour?

your sentence makes un-logic

sp1 you can get rid of it... no wait it still starts when you start outlook express. yet another reason to use mozilla mail.

My problem is that I have to first close OE and then the Messenger, while the Messenger could run without OE.
