stupid stupid windows

We have run into the same issue... you can always count on MS to do a force reboot when people are in the middle of something.... solution:
get the pcs to boot at 6am, and run the updates then.... so if there is another pointless reboot, its a least one hour before anybody even sits at the computer...

Automatic updates enabled on a PC that reverts to a base setup after each reboot? Sounds like something my college would do.

Student: OH! Its always good to do the updates.
Computer: The system must be restarted for the changes to take effect.
Student: Ok. *reboot*
Computer: New updates are available and have been installed on your PC you must reboot for the changes to take effect.
Student: Man these things are out of date but it should be good by now. *reboot*
Computer: New updates are available and have been installed on your PC you must reboot for the changes to take effect.
Student: Come on class is starting already. *reboot*
Computer: New updates are available and have been installed on your PC you must reboot for the changes to take effect.
Student: Ugg *reboot*

*rinse, wash, repeat*

I can't believe after all this time Microsoft still can't eliminate reboots from their updates. Linux has done this (with the exception of a kernal update) since its inception.

I love that greyed out "No" button! HAHA

yup the grayed out "No" button is a nice touch

The U of M has an environment where the PCs reboot nightly, but only if they're not being used. After the reboot, all programs are installed and patches applied during boot. It's a good system, and all PCs eventually reboot with no student inconvenience.
