Wow, some harsh words around here. Did the picture feature a black iPod with white headphones or just the white iPod + white headphones? That really determines whether this guy a complete retard or just slightly dumb.

I'm not sure how you felt mislead. The picture shows white earbuds. As a matter of fact, I looked back at other iPods that we sold and ALL the earbuds were white.

He definitely was misled... not by Woot though but by his parents telling him as he grew up how smart he is because he's an idiot.

Someone trying to get something for nothing.

The only error the tech support person made was using ALL caps for the word "ALL". That is considered yelling and inappropriate.

I wouldn't say the customer wins. S/he wasn't satisfied with the product so it was returned for a full refund, which is often typical procedure (though I'm not sure if Woot normally does refunds). In any case they're right back to where they started, almost as if it never happened. The customer is now free to shop elsewhere and give someone else a hard time, and Woot is free to sell the product to someone who will appreciate it without demanding a handout.

it is to remind the company of the old addage "the customer is always right", which doesnt really exist anymore.

this guy is a tool thats trying to get a free pair of 30 dollar headphones tho. it was up to him to make sure it was what he wanted. theres another old addage... let the buyer beware. also in latin! "caveat emptor"

These days, the customer is usually wrong. Unless you're running a small business, especially a small local B&M business that relies heavily on word of mouth, you shouldn't bend to customer demands so easily. So one idiot goes on woot.com and buys something, bitches about it not being what he wanted? Fuck him. He's wrong. You'll lose his business and maybe 2-3 other people he talks to. And guess what? A million other people will line up to buy stuff from them.
