haha, this is a rather embarassing question but I was unable to find the answer online.

Well I use both Outlook and Thunderbird, but when I installed them on two of my computers and import my webmail...it imports them on to my hard drive, however it deletes them permanently on my webmail!!

This is rather annoying, because that means I cannot refer back to my older webmail from other computers. Basically, yes I want the software to copy my webmail emails on to my hdd, and leave them on the webmail server as well so I can access it from other locations...hence copy, not "cut and paste" them on to my hard drive.

I know theres some simple setting that you just gotta check or uncheck to prevent this, but do you guys know what I'm talking about?

Big thanks for the guy/girl who knows what I mean and has the solution for it.

Is that all there is to it? I do believe that both my webmails support imap but I am not certain. On top of that, isn't there a setting though, in which you can tell the program not to delete all your webmail after retrieving it?

Thanks for the tip though.

With OE6 it's
Tools>accounts>hi-lite your mail account>properties>advanced tab

Not sure if it's the same with Outlook.

both should have options to not delete mail off the server when it's downloaded. you shouldn't need to switch to imap.

edit: visit MrChad's links, they will tell you how to do it.
