Stupid Revision

no need to pin point exact titles.

however some of the current titles revision.
i.e.
shooter 2 --> shooter 3
or
real time strategy 1 --> real time strategy 2.

you get the point.

-----

revisions should make the "SAME" legacy game more elaborate, more powerful, more refine, more graphical. adding all those without losing the original game dynamic/foundation.

revision should not be to re-learn the whole game dynamic all over again. if that is so the case. might as well make it a new game with a new name. not a sequel.

-----

there was a time when one can depend on the next revision being exactly as described in paragraph 1 above. now-a-days titles with new revisions. just not the same anymore.

perhap it is a different new similar game with piss poor naming. or worse - suckering folks with version 1 to buy version 2 thinking it is the better/improved of version 1.

BF4 can suck it, i discovered planetside 2 the other week

No idea how it compares to the original but its more fun than BF3 was.

Franchises make more money than an individual game.

You need good marketing to sell a product. Using an old name does half the work for you.
Thats why we have 4 Red Faction games that are completely different but sell better each time.

Its up to the consumer to investigate his purchase BEFOREHAND and decide if its really the product he wants.

I have no pity for folks who are first in line and then complain like whiny children after the fact. If getting it right away was that damn important to you then obviously quality was not your number one concern.

I am confused at what the OP is saying. Maybe revision means something different than in the software development sector. Like BF3 1.0 vs BF3 1.1?
