Why do you think it's a stupid question? I feel that if you think it's a stupid question, you're embarassed about the fact that you like these bands...what's the dealio?

I'm sorry. :( I really like Poison; particularly around the time of the "Open up and Say Ahhhh!" album. Big hair is good!!!! See those women in those 80's videos? Those are all my ideal wives....all of them! :D

I love 80's hair metal. Hanoi Rocks, Ratt, Dokken, Scorpions, Danger Danger, Whitesnake... That stuff just sounds good. Rock on!

Um, is it possible that not everyone has the same taste in music you do? Just a thought.

Yep.. the '80s had it all, from hair bands to homosexual British New Wave, to the beginnings of industrial and techno. And, of course, real rock music (and not the crap that passes for it these days) by the likes of Ronnie James Dio, Y&T, Van Halen, etc..

I'm a HUGE Scorpions fan. Whitesnake is great too.

If you're going to ask a stupid question like this, at least say so in the thread title so more serious people can avoid it.

The complaint I hear a lot is that their music was " formula commerical" studio production.

like any decade, 90% of the music = crap while 10% = good. the 80's was no different. the 90's was without a doubt, a golden age in music too...

We had been listening to The Who, Led Zepplin, and The Rolling Stones, so GnR, Motely Crue, and White Snake just didn't not quiet replace them.

WTF has the 90s given us, as far as rock goes?

There was the grunge movement of the early 90s, but it was all downhill from there.... lol

Some of the "Glam rock" songs are pretty good.. None of the bands stand out to me as a whole, though.

Still, even the best 80's glam rock was really done years earlier by David Bowie in the the 70's.

hip-hop/rock (limp bizkit - sucks yea i know, and rage against the machine), funk/rock (red hot chili peppers), alternative, ambient radiohead stuff (dunno what genre to put it into), and the sort of electronica/hip-hop/rock stuff (linkin park, although that's sort of 00's).

Do you consider Smashing Pumpkins, Sublime, Stone Temple Pilots, Korn, and Foo Fighters pure nothing?
