Hi,
I'll refrain from the long story, because it's really awful, and I feel like an asche for having done this.
I had a damaged heatsink, and rather than get a new 'un i tried to use it regardless. As such, it required some tinkering to get it on. Worse, it required much tinkering to get it off.
The cpu (xp 1500) was slightly, well, filed down (or so it seemed) on one edge. Not cracked, mind you, just a little filed down. Tiny shards of metal and everything.
Is there any chance that the CPU might remain viable?
Feeling stupid, and hoping to save myself from more agony.
