It is the newest stepping AMD uses for it's Athlon CPU's. AXIAs are the most overclockable of all the steppings. It is not uncommon for a 1Ghz AXIA Thunderbird to hit 1.4Ghz with standard cooling (although I would recommend getting a better HSF unit).

This question is asked every day twice at least. Lean how to use a search function please.
Its the most overclockable athlon chip made. Use a search to find out more.

Not all 1Ghz are AXIA, although I think they are in the process of transitioning over to all AXIAs. You'll have to look at the markings on the chip to see if it is AXIA or something else. AVIAs are also quite o/c-able, but not as much. Most 1.2's are AXIA and all 1.3 and above are AXIA.

yeah, not all 1Ghz chips are AXIAs.... but if any recent stock of 1Ghz 266fsb chips selling online now is most likely to be AXIA... i bought 3 1Ghz 266fsb oem chips within the last couple of weeks from newegg.com and all turned out to be AXIA... all managed 1.5Ghz albeit at different voltages....

btw, i hope people would just stop asking what AXIA is, because there has been so many threads on it... people stop being lazy and do a search for the topic before posting...
