I'm getitng a AMD x2 and I need to make sure my XP Home will work with it. I know that dual CPUs need to have XP Pro.

NoQ. How does this licensing policy affect products such as Microsoft Windows XP Professional?

A. Microsoft Windows XP Professional and Microsoft Windows XP Home are not affected by this policy as they are licensed per installation and not per processor. Windows XP Professional can support up to two processors regardless of the number of cores on the processor. Microsoft Windows XP Home supports one processor.

XP doesn't care about cores, just CPUs.

It's all ok.

I think I'm going to switch back. Any reason to use XP I've been disliking for about a year now?

Funny thing is a I 'upgraded' because some AMD benchmark tool required it and just never moved back. I really hate those pop up ballons you can't get rid of... like placing mouse over start - stupid OS always says "Click here to begin"..like i don't know this! After a years use?
