stupid question about primaries and delegates

Guessing - delegates represent a geographical area, so Hillary's margin of victory may have been larger in the areas that she won, but Obama won more areas.

democrat delegates are awarded proportionally... so in the event of something like a 49:51 win, the two candidates end up about even in the delegate count.

there are also super delegates, who can vote however they chose, though they typically follow whatever the trend is.

Mugs has it close. Delegates are assigned based on Congressional districts in some states. You win that district, you win the delegates. Obama lost the popular vote but won the elector...errrr....delegate vote.

gotcha, thanks!
I thought it was a simple enough question for ot, I don't dare click on p&n esp. in a time like this.
