Talking with a bud from work and his download speeds were increased to 7 mb download...mine are only hangin around 3mb download when I did a speed test.

My question is...what does it matter ? When I download from the net I rarely find a server that allows for faster than 800kbps download...

So unless I am missing something they could make it 10 mb/sec if the sites you download from only are going to let you download at a set speed the download bandwith is irrelivant ?

If I am missing something let me know please ?

Thanks

It means you suck at the Internet, and need to start surfing sites with better upload bandwidth. ;)

Now that I've got my requisite asshattery out of the way ... :)

You're getting confused between bytes and bits methinks.

7 megaBIT service will yield ~= 800 kiloBYTE/second download speeds. (Less overhead.)

Also, when downloading from fast servers or P2P programs where several small pipe aggregate into one big one, you can easily peg a 10 megaBIT line.

Short version - download some p2p pr0n and you'll max out your line. :D

I got it now...you were right...I did have them confused

8 mbps (megabits per second) = 1 MB/sec (megabytes per second)
