Why did they put this on here and not the Highpoint? Well, at least make it the same as the Fastrak100! :|

This won't support RAID1 mirror or RAID0+1!

There are NO selections for STRIPE SIZES either! Just this automatic setting of server, A/V, desktop, etc! I remember from the FT66 you could do that OR specify a stripe size!

I'm beginning to like this board, HOWEVER I wish there was a way to get full settings in the Promise BIOS.

Does anyone know what the stripe sizes translate to under the choices?

Cheers!

Also, you cannot really disable it. You can disable its BIOS, but win9x/2k still detects it and requires an IRQ for it.

What I am guessing is that a REAL Promise Ultra100 Raid controller cost nearly 1/3-1/2 of the motherboard in retail. So they most 'cut' part of it down to 'reduce the cost'.

That sounds promising! I'm gonna check the BIOS with CBRom and see if the Promise BIOS is embedded within. Perhaps I can flash it to a real fastrak bios and gain more features.

Cheers!

I disabled the Promise Bios inside the Award bios during bootup, since I dont need it now, and yet, win9x/2k has a (?) next to its name under device manager, yet I had to put a driver for it before it becames a 'normal' hardware in the tree.

I heard you can use raid 1 and raid 0+1 on rev. 1.05 and you could flash bios to support them. So look around if it's true.

I like this controller much better than on Msi Turbo-R, which support raid 0, 1, 0+1, since a7v133 is much faster to boot up and I don't use raid.

I dont feel like flashing the BIOS of the HDD controller.

My friend flash his HP370 PCI controller twice, twice his bios is basically 'CLEARED'.
