Stupid people have led me to need dash cam suggestions...

This is what happens when the country lets illegal immigrants have a drivers license

I live in Texas and most of the crazy drivers I've experience are young white rednecks and middle aged white women. I've seen are middle aged white women and young male rednecks.

Hence the tail cam.

No matter how hard I try to give enough space to be safe, I will almost undoubtedly have some moron directly up my ass.
And I gave up brake checking a long time ago.

Same goes for frontal space, try and leave any space from the car in front only to have some nit-fucking-wit jam into the space leaving a car separation of 4 feet either end, thanks asshole!..

I hate that. i drive with enough room in front of me so that if something happens i have time to stop. Then some asswipe gets in that space. WTF there is barely enough room!

sigh.

Well the dash-cam could be a big plus if an accident happens, there always looking to blame the one from behind, one day some asswipe did that maneuver and 2 seconds later 3 cars in front a "brake event" occurred, I damm near whacked his car, I hadn't had time to let another "buffer" space develop. I followed him into the mall parking lot and ripped him a new one, I was pissed!...

This is what the one I recommend looks like while mounted:

Am getting a nice new used car this summer and thinking a dash cam is a small investment to protect me.
Maybe even a recording tail cam too.

where do you get that blackvue cam? I don't see any US distributors on the website. I see a bunch on ebay but I don't know if those may be fake imitations.

That's what drives me nuts in south Florida (by far the worst drivers in the country). It is nearly impossible to not tailgate on a highway down here. If you leave more than a car length in front of you, it is only a matter of time before someone decides to squeeze in thinking 4 feet is plenty of distance.

My old mount, iphone 3gs on a gps dock.. works great because you can charge and record at the same time. 32gb, etc.. What I didn't like is it falls off during hot summer months and sometimes it blocks your view and in some states, windshield mounts are not allowed.

One car I have a cruise cam headreset mount @ http://www.cruisecam.com/products.html

The other car uses a RAM headrest mount
I set up a quick release on both so I can mount either camera I have on me. You want to have something that you can easily take off when you go to valet parking or park in a lot
I'm using a contour hd and drift cam because I use them for paintball games also.. so if you go snowboarding, skiing, surfing, you probably want to get one of those action ones, like hdpro 2, etc so you can use it else where besides your car

thats the only reason i have for it.. accident proofs, everyone is out to sue you

Just learn to keep your distance from other vehicles by not following them too closely and not speeding. >30 years of driving and no accident caused by me. It's all about having control of the car and watching for every potential accident that could happen around you while on the road. 😎

Here's a nice one.

Wow that's cheap as hell @$49, I may have to pick one of these up. Any downside to having that model vs the more expensive ones?

yes, click the link ... it's pretty obvious.

$49 - Basic / 2 Megapixel 640x480, No Motion Detection, No Night Vision

$69 - NV + HD + MD / 5 Megapixel HD 1280x720, Motion Detection, Night Vision

i'm tempted too however having to remove it and put it back up would become very tedious quickly. definitely wouldn't have that thing on my dash when the car is just parked.

If you have an android phone, there's an app called daily roads voyager (or something like that) that's used for recording your daily trips.

Pretty sure that's the same one Skorpio linked for $49. @39.99 I may just have to pull the trigger on this, only thing I worry about is the cost to fix my window if someone decides they want it.

Yeah, it looks similar except in Skorpio's link, the HD recorders start at $64.95, making the above deal a little better.
