Stupid OS install question

I have a quick stupid question that is bugging me. I'm trying to reinstall win2k on my family's computer b/c its messed up beyond all hell with virii and spywear and god knows what. Basically, it has 2 partions right now that I want to completely format (both) and merge into one and do a clean install of win2k on just one NTFS partition. When I use the win2k CD, it just gives me the option to reinstall windows but no formatting options or anything, it just installs over the existing partition on C. It also doesnt recognize the CD on bootup, I have to do it from within windows.

How can I format 2 partitions, merge them into 1 60gb one, and then do a clean install?

Thanks,

Ponch

You will need to run fdisk to delete both and then create one partition using the whole ammount of the drive.

you will need to create the 4 win2k boot disks using the program which is available in the cd

Once you enter Win2K setup, you should have an option to delete both partitions. Once that is done, you can format the whole drive as one big NTFS partition.

boot from CD and choose to have a new installation.
there will be an option to delete existing partitions.

I tried to boot from CD and it insisted on going back to resume the setup I kinda aborted earlier. I guess I'll let it run through this stupid install on the partition and then try?

When it first brings gets to the text part of Win2K setup where it asks you where you want to install Win2K, look closely at the bottom of the screen. There should be an option to delete the existing partions...highlighting the partition in question and hitting "D" IIRC.

ok, it did its install thing and nothing changed, back in windows, still F-ed up, thats fine. So, I put the cd back in, restart and I get the boot from CD option, press any key to continue. I press enter to boot from cd and it just fires up windows, no install options or anything, I hit f8 and its still the normal crap. I have it booting from CD, but how do I get into this install menu without going thru the lame one in windows that gives me no options except a repair install?

alright, I got into it this time, it seems I just had to mash buttons really quick or it would pass over it for some reason. Anyway, its formatting one big partition and I think im on my way now. Thanks everyone for the help.
