My hands get really dry in the winter. Dressing grinding wheels at work doesn't help either. That seems to really irritate things. I think i drink a lot of water, especially at work so i don't think that's the sole reason. Generally drier air & the furnace running the humidity at home is only about 20%
I always have chap stick & lotion around in the winter.

I see. I bruised easily on warfarin. I still get regular blood work done.

I take Eliquis which is a lot easier to dose properly then Warfarin but otherwise has the same effect far as bruising/bleeding goes.

However for whatever reason I was prone to excessive bruising when I gave blood even before I was on it.

I get cracks in my hands in the winter, and I get more bleedy. Nick myself on something, and it looks like the set of a horror movie. Still better than being hot.

You try O'Keeffe's Working Hands Hand Cream?
I have! A little bit anyway. I can't say anything about it one way or the other, cause I haven't been diligent about using it. I've never used lotions much, so I don't remember to use it. It is nice in that it doesn't make your hands feel like they're loaded with crap. Goes on pretty clean, with just a mild tackiness. Doesn't feel greasy or anything.

I was playing basketball last night and had to stop playing because I have these cracks that develop right on the tips of my finger going to the side of my finger nails, and a basketball nailed one of them directly and it just started dripping blood.

I hate what happens to my hands in the winter time ugh. It hurt so bad too and still does.

EDIT:

Also not sure if been mentioned, but I use Bag Balm and it's been helpful. It is really greasy though so you can't touch shit for like 30+ minutes after you put it on. I have tried that Okeefe's Working Hands stuff but that stuff didn't do much and not nearly as much as Bag Balm.

do you old men have humidifiers in your house?

i always keep it at %30-35 humidity and that seems to prevent these type of issues

I don't but between my aquariums evaporation and numerous house plants it doesn't get insanely dry in my apartment anyway.

Not a whole house humidify (don't have forced warm air in my current house). I do have one in the bedroom - so we get 7-8 hours of 40% RH.
I should just put a larger one on the first floor, but haven't gotten around to it yet.

I never used to have any issues in the winter but now when it gets well below freezing (which is common in MI) my skin gets dry and itchy in certain places. My shins (of all places) now need lotion applied to them occasionally. I look forward to this continuing to get worse.
Shins are always bad in the winter due to pants rubbing on your skin down there + lack of bloodflow. Aveeno Eczema cream is the best out there for this kind of thing.

Yeah but I wear pants like 1 day a week. (shorts the rest of the time because I WFH)
