Stupid OC question

I just put together a system with a p4 1.8a, 512 corsair xms pc2700 ram, on a Gigabyte GA-8IEXP mobo and am using a 340W power supply. I want to run it at 2.4 so bumped the fsb up to 133 but it crashed in windows because the ram was running to high. My options for the ram are 2, 2.66, and auto in the bios. Leaving it on auto and putting the fsb on 133 runs the ram at like 320 or something. I have the pci and agp locked at 33/66 or whatever it locks at. This is my first OC and i always hear about memory ratios of 1:1, 3:4, 4:5 and cas timings, but i dont see anything like that in the bios. Could someone simply explain the best way for me to run my ram so i can run my processor at 2.4, thanks!

download memtest86 (from memtest86.com)

the proggie runs in dos, and its a great way to tell if your memory can run at a certain speed

since its pc2700 it seems unlikely that your memory will be the limiting factor on your overclock

i can get it to run at 134 fsb (for some reason it recognizes this as 2.4ghz) with the memory time 2 (i'm assuming this is the 1:1 ration since the memory runs at 266 on this setting and that the 2.66 is the 3:4 ratio). Am i stuck running at this speed or is there another option like 4:5 (which i guess would be 2.5) that i can seem to find in the bios?

Your adjusting your Vcore and Vdimm right?.... It could be your MB, its OC'ing options are probly limited... Or you may just need a new bios version

Hope this helps

I left the Vcore and Vdimm alone and i bought this board because all the sites said it was a great board with nice OC options. It seems right now i can only run at 134fsb with a 1:1 ratio because the 3:4 locks the computer. Is there any other way i can run my ram faster than 134fsb without running it at 3:4 (~170something fsb)
