So I finally got my Canon Digital Rebel on Monday, first used on Tuesday and then here on Wednesday they have to go and release this incredible camera. I've already called B&H to return it and now i need to contact BuyDig.com to return my lens. This new camera is just too nice, why didn't i wait :(

Anyone else contemplating returning their rebel?

With digital cameras, as with computers, you can always play the waiting game. Yes, the D70 seems to offer better build quality and features ON PAPER, but Canon's CMOS sensor is superior, especially in low-light conditions. Canon will take note of the D70 and make the necessary adjustments for the 400D, which should appear this fall. Want to wait until then too?

The 300D is a fantastic camera. You should be thankful you can afford even that.

I fail to see how me wanting to get the best product for my money equates to me not being grateful.

And I'm saying the D70 is not the best product for your money. The D70 is estimated to cost $200 more for the lens kit, and it's a fact that Nikon's 6mpx CCD is noisier than Canon's 6mpx CMOS. I bet the 300D still takes the better picture when the side-by-side comparisons come out.

The 300D is out now. You could take a lot of pictures between today and whenever the D70 is released and the first orders are filled and you can finally buy one. It's not like they announce it and it's magically on the shelves you know ;) Until it's in people's hands and reviews are available and you can make an informed decision, selling what you have now seems a little rash.

If you want an image quality preview of the D70 vs. 300D review, you need not look far. The Nikon D70 uses the same sensor as the Nikon D100, and the Canon 300D uses the same sensor as the Canon D60 and 10D.

Nikon D100 review.

(BTW, I'm pretty sure that Nikon gets its senors from Sony, whereas Canon makes their CMOS sensors in-house. As of the LBCAST sensor, Nikon also makes their high-end sensors in-house.)

I am a die hard Nikon fan but I would not jump at this new camera until it was out on the market for a while. I actually may get the Canon 400 D (or whatever comes out) but not till it's been out on the market for a while.

Cheers,
