am I the only one that wants to be antisocial this year and stay home tonight? my wife feels the same way. we just want to sit on our butts and do nothing tonight. dont want to drag the kids out then drag them home at 1230 and try to get them in bed.

ugh. making some queso, eating some chips and watching tv sounds real good tonight.

... but we already rsvp'd for our groups annual NYE bash. :(

If you want to stay home, STAY HOME.

It's a NYE party, there'll be another one next year. The RSVP doesn't obligate you to show up.

I don't like "official" drinking occasions. People think it gives them license to act like retards, and your chances of being hassled by cops increases exponentially. I'd rather stay home, and have a party on a different night.

We are staying home and doing a puzzle while drinking champagne and eating snacks. I don't mind Christmas parties, but I cannot stand New Years parties so will always prefer to stay home.

Why would you take the kids out on New Years?

its a tight group of friends. weve done this party for over a decade and now we all have kids. we go over to one of our friends houses and the kids run around like crazy little heathens, games are played, drinks are drunk... you know the whole bit.

I get it now. Maybe you just need to manage the logistics better. If there's going to be a bunch of kids, why not let them have a sleepover?

This x 1000. I mean we're no spring chickens anymore but I was pretty much done with NYE at 28-30. At early 40's the wife and I make crab cakes, sometimes a beast, watch a movie and hit the sack by like 10:30-11...I'd say I literally have seen 12:01 on two of the last 10 years...

We have a 6 month old, so we're staying home and I'm pretty happy about it. I have a chuck roast in the crock pot with which I will serve a duckfat mushroom gravy, and a bottle of champagne from my dad. My daughter usually is asleep by 8, so I'm guessing that my wife and I will both fall asleep somewhere between then and midnight. I haven't been able to stay up until midnight in... 6 months at least.

We're headed to the little lady's parent's place for the evening. We needed a year off to recover from last year.

I usually like to stay home, going with my woman to a friends place instead. Thankfully it'll be a small gathering, and they only live like 5 miles from my house, so it's a short drive home, and I'll be sober.

For those of you who opt to go out tonight and celebrate my birthday, please do so safely.
Do not over-imbibe...and do NOT drink and drive.

I may be staying home tonight. We've got snow on the ground, and more coming. I'm not anxious to risk bad roads late at night with drunk people out there, too.

We've thrown a party every year since we moved into our house in 2008, but this year, we decided not to have one and will just be at home eating, drinking, and watching movies.

Damn. I'd give my left nut to be invited anywhere today. Last time I've been invited to a party was 5 years ago, and it was a kids party. :(

It's New Year's Eve. Go out and have fun.

What if those two things are mutually exclusive? Especially if you have kids.

I have a 5-month-old baby so that's reason (excuse?) enough to stay home.

I haven't actually enjoyed New Year's Eve since I was a child.

I like staying home and cranking Pink Floyd and watching their light shows.
