Is this a law, or just social custom?

Up until 92 Ontario had a law that stores had to be closed on sunday, it was really stupid...

if its not a law, stay in the netherlands and open up a Kwiki Mart and become super duper rich. Or just go back to the US and let me become super duper rich.

Walmart is already in Germany so it won't take long until the first Walmarts appear in Holland. Of course, they are not open on Sundays either.

Europeans think 24 hour stores are evil. Something about workers being exploited...

I can't imagine life without the huge Meijer we have across the road from us. I've never bought a video game (or for that matter, a pineapple, goldfish, sack of charcoal, or bicycle) at 3 o'clock in the morning, but it's quite comforting to know that I can if I wanted to. :)

You still haven't eaten?!

Actually, I get like that once in a while, and when I do, I get less and less motivated to eat because my energy level drops below what it takes to go get food. That's never a good situation.

How can a country's economy survive when nothing is ever open? Stores are closed sundays and mondays, only open T-Sat 11am-5pm (many close early, round 4-4:30pm)

scary..... i'm used to 24 hour safeways and jack in the boxes around here. i guess u gotta go to costco and have a huge fridge in the netherlands to survive:)

Been there, done that, got the T-shirt even. Now you know why everyone runs around in a semi-mad state of hectic chaos on Friday and Saturday. ;) In such cases, local gas stations quickly become your friend. Surprised you couldn't find a snack stand open, other than Mickey D's.
